Full Description

ZOHO Books began as AdventNet in 1996. They branched out in the international market and expanded by creating an official operations site in Japan. Their name change occurred in 2009 from AdventNet to Zoho Corporation. Their business accounting software, Zoho Books debuted in 2011.

Their “unlimited everything” approach is a huge selling feature that saves their customers money. Whereas other accounting software systems may seem “lower priced” initially, they do require you to make expensive additional purchases for add-ons. Zoho Books has all the same benefits for one price and is clearly less expensive overall.

Another bonus that Zoho Books offers is remote training for various avenues of their software. This is an alluring feature for those who truly wish to use their accounting software to its best potential, instead of just getting quick answers when different issues come up. This creates a more knowledgeable consumer and they then become happier clients for Zoho Books.

Their software is designed for small businesses and up, but works best with “really small” ones such as those run by sole proprietors who rave about Zoho Books. They are a good choice if you are unhappy with your present accounting program.

Operating in six countries, United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Japan and India, they have more than 15 million users to date. They pride themselves on their customer support which is the best there is.

Zoho Books delivers great options and service but does fall short on a few things according to our consumer complaints. The limited features do not include payroll processing or check printing. Though it’s tracking tools work well, one needs to utilize its “Projects” product in conjunction with Zoho Books’ accounting software. Also, there is no full service version designed for actual accountants.

Zoho Books’ accounting software system does have a few minor bugs such as the occasional navigation problems from one function to another. Another issue our consumer reviewers complained about was the fact that the program doesn’t allow split transactions. This aggravation causes more work than its competitors’ software and it is hoped that they will rectify this soon.

Though their customer service support department is typically good, language barriers do persist from this India based company. Unfortunately phone calls and emails alike suffer from this impediment.

Overall (5.1/10)

Zoho Books is a good choice in many ways if you are purchasing an accounting software program for your company. It can handle small to larger business multiple accounting jobs. Its technical support is quick and accessible with well-trained employees. It is a sound and solid system with few negative issues other than some definite limitations.
